Jake showed incredible class in his youth athletics, winning 11 Australian junior titles. At age 20 he finished 2nd in the Australian senior 10k road race championships.

And although running looked like it could be a career path, he chose Triathlon. And man was Triathlon a great decision. With podiums in the 2018 and 2019 world triathlon series overall, silver at the commonwealth games in 2018, World Series wins in Hamburg and Leeds, and the U23 World title at the age of 20.

Dr. Hannah Wells - Pro triathlete -IRONMAN and multiple 70.3 Champ -Ph.D. Biotech Engineering

April 12, 2021
In this episode of The Greg Bennett Show, Greg has a delightful conversation with Dr. Hannah Wells.

Dr. Hannah Wells is one of the greatest prospects to hit the world of Triathlon.

In her short time as a professional athlete, she has won every major ½ distance race in the Oceania region: including the Tauranga 1/2, Challenge Wanaka, and the Ironman 70.3’s Sunshine Coast, Western Sydney, Taupo, & Geelong amongst others.

Even more spectacular she’s 72 hours off the back of debuting in her first Ironman, in IM New Zealand which she won convincingly in 9.01 hr/min.

And if that is not enough, she has a Ph.D. in Biotech Engineering. She did her Ph.D. looking at the structure of collagen in a range of tissues and natural materials and won two international awards.

In this episode, we get a better understanding of how she does it all and looking at her journey and her process.

Dr. Wells describes her journey into the world of Triathlon. Only starting the sport in her early 20's her rise to the top has been remarkably fast. She spent many years balancing her work and Triathlon and adventure racing. But after a successful 2019, she has gone all-in on the sport of Triathlon.

She discusses her love of the sport of Triathlon, the people, the training, and the racing. She explains the importance of listening to her body and adapting the training accordingly,

Her advice to never stop learning and to focus on the process is something we all need reminding of.

JAN FRODENO SPECIAL EDITION Part Two of Two- Olympic Champion, 3x Ironman & 2x Ironman 70.3 World Champion

JAN FRODENO SPECIAL EDITION Part Two of Two- Olympic Champion, 3x Ironman & 2x Ironman 70.3 World Champion

April 5, 2021
Jan Frodeno is a very special return guest. He’s a great champion and a good friend.

He’s arguably the greatest Triathlete of All-time? His name is being consistently been thrown into this conversation. And it’s hard to argue with this, with his Olympic Gold, Three-time Ironman World Champion with a course record in Kona of 7.51.13, Two-time IM 70.3 World Champion, and a world record in the Ironman distance of 7.35.39 at the Challenge Roth event in Germany… and a list of wins that just keeps piling up.

He’s had a target on his back for over a decade and he keeps delivering with the goods. He’s a crowd favorite, a gracious champion, and a true gentleman of the sport.

We had an entertaining and insightful conversation in episode 27, which I highly recommend.

This special edition is in two parts.

In part 1 of this episode, Jan discusses what it's like to be back racing after such a long period away. He describes the difficulty of getting to the USA but then the sheer joy of getting back on the start line and testing himself. Jan steps through the Challenge Miami race and what it felt like to cross the line victorious and all the pressure that went with it.

In part 2, We really get a glimpse of the life behind the athlete. Jan discusses self-doubt, and what it's like to always have a target on his back. He describes what his talent truly is and what a typical day really looks like. Jan discusses his new business venture with his wife Emma - The La Comuna Boutique residence, café, and corner store, his wonderful sponsors, and how he and his manager Felix manage all the commitments. We end with some fun quick-fire questions.

It was wonderful to have him on the show as we share many of the same philosophies around high-performance sport and life. In this episode, Matt shares his journey as an athlete and the key lessons he learned during that time to become the great coach he is. Matt describes how he takes a holistic view of an individual when working with them. Understanding their work and family life, what stressors do they have. He focuses heavily on what he describes as the four pillars of performance - Endurance, Functional Strength, Nutrition &Fueling, and Recovery. He discusses how to use data from wearables and why some people will be more comfortable with more data than others. And why fueling immediately after working out with protein and carbohydrates is so important.

There are so many great takeaways in this one. Enjoy!

Joe DeSena - CEO and founder of Spartan and the Death Race.

Joe DeSena - CEO and founder of Spartan and the Death Race.

March 15, 2021
In this episode of The Greg Bennett Show, Greg has an inspiring conversation with Joe DeSena.

Joe is the CEO and founder of Spartan events and the Death Race.

He’s a NY Times best-selling author of Spartan Up, Spartan Fit, and The Spartan Way. And a host of the ever-popular Spartan Up podcast.

He’s an ultra-endurance athlete with remarkable stories of human endurance and perseverance - In one year, he completed fifty ultra-events and fourteen Ironmans.

But he’s far more than CEO of an events company, author, athlete, and podcast host… he has a life mission to get people moving, get people healthy, get people excited about taking on their personal challenges, and helping people find strengths inside them they didn’t realize they had. He’s one of the world’s most influential motivators. And I for one am grateful and inspired by his commitment to helping others.

In this episode, Joe describes why he started Spartan obstacle races, and why Spartan is different than Ironman and Triathlon.

Joe shares stories of his youth, growing up in Queens surrounded by the mob families, building a lucrative pool business with 700 pools, getting excepted into Cornell University, selling the pool business, and his time in Wall Street.

Joe is someone who desperate to squeeze everything out of life and he's ok with living a spartan life. In fact, he prefers it. Challenging himself and never getting too comfortable.

This is an inspiring conversation.

A key figure in developing growth with some of the world's leading tech companies. At his first Ironman at 2018 Lake Placid he won overall in 9hr 18, only a few months after he started the sport, and qualified for Kona IM World Championships in the process… a month after that breakthrough at Lake Placid he then went and raced the Copenhagen IM and was first age grouper in 8.27 and finished 10th overall including the professionals.

He discusses his time running at Harvard and post University and then his void of physical activity for 10 years as he was consumed by work building his own company's Datesite.com, Friend.ly, and then eventually at Facebook and Uber.

He describes the cultures of Facebook and Uber and his relationship with Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

Ed shares how he decides to invest and become an advisor in various companies. We discuss growth and how Ed has used both science and art to grow all these companies.

A lot to learn from this one, from one of the great minds in investing and entrepreneurship.

Craig Alexander joins Greg to discuss Triathlon and how the sport has evolved over 40 years

Craig Alexander joins Greg to discuss Triathlon and how the sport has evolved over 40 years

February 22, 2021
Craig Alexander (Crowie) was Greg's very first guest on The Greg Bennett Show well over a year ago. He’s been a good mate of Greg's for 25 plus years. They’ve logged thousands of miles together in training and they’ve had some fun battles in races around the world. Greg has taken enormous pleasure in watching his incredible success over the years - his 5 world titles and his relentless pursuit and perseverance to become the champion he is.

They’ve done 5-hour rides and there’s rarely a moment of silence between them. They’ve shared coffee’s and beers, and plenty of laughs. Greg's not sure he can think of a better man to have a long conversation about anything and everything.

This is simply two mates sharing some stories, their thoughts on the world of Triathlon and how it’s changed over 30+ years, and some off-topic random discussion as well.

In this episode, Craig and Greg discuss the early years at Balmoral Triathlon club in Sydney and how they use to sleep in their cars before races and wait for the barrel draws to win meat packs, and how they always worked jobs to simply try to stay afloat to get o the next race.

Greg and Craig discuss who is the greatest Triathlete of all time. How races have changed and how equipment changes have impacted the sport.

Heather Jackson is one of the world’s greatest Ironman champions. With consistent podiums at both the 70.3 and Full Ironman World Championships. She’s the current American Ironman record holder and has won 12 IM 70.3 and 5 full Ironmans.

She’s a relentlessly hard worker and is an aggressive racing, and is a top contender at every race she enters. Always smiling, one of the best people I know, but don’t let that smile fool you….She’s a smiling assassin.

In this episode, Heather describes her journey to the top of the world of Triathlon. Her options of sports along the way, simply remarkable. Soccer, Ice Hockey, Track Cycling, and then finally she went all-in on Triathlon.

Heather describes how she's struggled with confidence, but now in her mid 30's she's found a new coach in Ryan Bolton, she's building her weapons and she's working the mental game.
